★002 | VIDEO | VIOLET CITY
[The video that shows up on the 'gear doesn't show much of anything at first. Just a normal room by the look of things, although at an angle that's rather low. Anyone with a good eye might be able to tell that this is actually one of the inn rooms over at Violet City. But, you know, details.
There's a few grumbles coming from the background as whoever is holding the gear begins to walk over to the room's closet area. There is no longer any doubt, this recording is on purpose and whoever is shooting this little homemade video WANTS people to see this. And it's...
...just Teddie, sleeping in the closet. By the look of things, he's gathered up the blankets and a few pillows from off the bed and made a little den for himself. Curled up with him is his cubchoo, of course, as well as an adorable teddiursa. It's pretty much a bear cuddle pile going on here, but why the need to record it? Soon enough, the mysterious video shooter makes herself known as she takes the gear and turns it on herself. It's Teddie's pancham, who looks none too pleased. She stares directly into the feed, shaking her head in a manner that reads "Can you believe this shit?"
Well, not wasting anymore time, she turns the feed back onto her trainer and proceeds to do the only reasonable thing she can think of. She begins to pelt him with the remaining pillows.]
GAAAAH!! NO, STOP!!
[Obviously started, Teddie bolts up and begins to scramble out of the closet on all fours, his cubchoo following suit. It's only his teddiursa who doesn't react immediately, smacking her lips and rubbing her eyes as she sleepily watches her trainer get chased by a small pancham in their tiny inn room. By now, said pancham has left the pokegear on the floor as she's taken up the full time job of chasing her supposed "trainer." Only quick glances of her, Teddie, and his equally panicked starter can be seen running back and forth as pillows fly across the room, cries for help echoing throughout the place.
This gives ample time for the teddiursa to lazily pick up the gear herself, stare into it like nothing's wrong, and give a friendly wave to what she can only assume is an audience. She then begins to turn it off, but not before Teddie's voice can be heard, shouting something along the lines of "NO, NOT THE LAMP!"
Well...hopefully no one else was trying to sleep.]

[action because we got lucky enough to be staying in the same hotel]
...assuming they ever got it, anyway.
The moment Teddie cries out, Kaneki's Zangoose immediately jerks awake, on alert. She stands up from where she'd been perched by Kaneki's pillow, and if her bushy tail slapping him in the face didn't wake him up, the continued shouting and tromping of feet sure did.
Without thinking he quickly sits up, throwing his legs over the edge of the bed in a half-asleep rush, the Zangoose jumping to the floor just as he gets to his feet. Scarcely does he get the door open before Rikki's climbing his leg and front to get up onto his shoulders, not realizing that Kaneki's Smeargle had already taken up residence there.
...so now there's a boy standing in the middle of the hallway with a Zangoose on one shoulder and a Smeargle practically clinging to his head, dressed in the t-shirt and shorts he'd been sleeping in.]
What's going on-!?
[action]
As if on cue, if Kaneki decides to stand there long enough at least, the door opens shortly after he makes his way into the hall, a tiny teddiursa walking out of the bedroom. Despite all the noise, she seems absolutely calm and even waves at the panicked stranger. Yes, hello, everything is fine. Please don't call the cops.]
[action]
Not sure what else to do, Kaneki turns his attention to the Teddiursa, taking a small step back to give her some room.]
Is...is everything okay in there?
[He cranes his neck a little to try to see if he can see past the crack in the door while Rikki does the same, snarling softly in the back of her throat. If anything unwelcome comes out of that door, she will have no problems with jumping onto its face and giving it what for.]
[action]
If anyone does manage to see anything through that door, they might be able to see Teddie on the floor, wrestling with his pancham as he tries to hold her away from himself. Rosa has taken to flailing her arms at him at this point, her supplies of pillows finally running out. Cho can only watch helplessly as she cries out to the both of them, hoping for SOMETHING to calm them down. Oh the woes of being a trainer. ...When you're not even actually a trainer. What does this have to do with breeding?!]
[action]
He looks down at the Teddiursa again, clearly at a loss.]
Are you sure? It sounds like someone needs help in there...
[action]
But before anyone gets a chance to question her again, the pancham that started it all begins to march out of the door. Her breathing his hard, like she's in a constant state of HUFF, but it's probably better than a constant state of punching. Following behind her is a very defeated looking, very tired Teddie. He looks absolutely exhausted, his posture sloppy as he's practically hanging over while he walks.]
Let's just get this over with already. I'm- [yaaaaaawn] runnin' on empty here!
[He doesn't even notice anyone's in the hall, probably because his eyes are barely open. Sleepy bear is sleepy.]
[action]
And then he sees Teddie. It doesn't...look like he's hurt or anything, just tired. It's clearer now that the ruckus must have been mostly the Pokemon, but he doesn't have much chance to feel embarrassed about it, not with a very angry bear tromping near his feet.]
Ah, um...hello?
[action]
[Not expecting to hear a voice, Teddie jumps, almost tripping over his own pokemon. Thankfully for everyone, he manages to catch himself before any damage takes place, staring at Kaneki like he's some sort of ghost. Well, that's one way to wake yourself up.]
I mean...GAH-llo! Hehe...
[Nailed it.]
Boy, this is embearassing...
[action]
I'm sorry...I heard shouting, so I thought something was happening. ...Are you alright?
[action]
[Teddie was never good at lying, but he tries his best as he forces himself to laugh. Why would anyone ever think that anything was the matter~? Of course, laughing isn't training and Rosa begins to grow impatient, punching her trainer right in the leg.
This is enough to cause Teddie to collapse, as he continues to force himself to laugh. If...not a bit weaker. He really liked that leg, thanks.]
I-I could do this for hours...haha...ow...
[NOTHING MORE FUN THAN BEING A POKEMON TRAINER.]
[action]
[Kaneki's attention shifts suddenly from Teddie to the Pancham who just punched him in the leg. He has...some experience with his Pokemon beating up on him a little, unintentional or otherwise. It doesn't happen too often, but Angmar bites everything, Rikki doesn't know her own strength, and...okay maybe it does happen a bit more than he realizes.
Either way, he crouches down slightly to look at the bear, resting one arm on his knee.]
Why are you hitting him?
[action]
Teddie gets back up, understandably wobbly, and gives an annoyed sigh. Despite everything, he acts like this is just one huge inconvenience, rather than the spectacle he and his pokemon made it be.]
She's just all mad 'cause I said we'd do more training today. It's not my fault I got tired and wanted to take a nap first, yeesh!
[A nap. At night. Nope, that sounds reasonable. There's no way Teddie was trying to weasel his way out of his training obligations.]
[action]
[Now he gets why that aggression is so familiar, because his reminder of that is currently huffing a little in his ear, still agitated about being woken up.]
Rikki likes to train too. I have a few Pokemon who do, actually...but maybe that could wait for the morning? It's pretty late.
[That last bit is said more to Rosa than to Teddie because girl people were trying to sleep.]
[action]
Boy, I wish!
[As much as Teddie would love to sleep right now, he's not sure that's a possibility. Not at the moment, at least.]
But there's no way she's gonna let me sleep, not with all that energy.
[What even is a pokeball?]
[action]
Mm...are you going to really train now, then?
[action]
[Which he still doesn't understand, but oh well.]
She'll definitely let me sleep once she does, I just don't want to go outside! It's dark.
[action]
...he knows that look, and it causes him to stiffen and shake his head a little. He's seen it hundreds of times by now.]
R-Rikki-? No...come on, we...we need to go back to bed...weren't you the one angry about being woken up just now?...
[Oh, she was.
Now she wants to show the little bear who woke her up why she should not have done that.]
[action]
[Is Teddie's much needed opinion on the situation, surely to stay in the minds of everyone everywhere for generations to come. That is the angriest, fattest cat he's ever seen. ...So maybe it's hungry.
Rosa, however, does not skip a beat and proceeds to crack her knuckles, a growl coming from under her breath. She doesn't care who woke up, as long as she gets what she wanted. And right now? She wants to punch something.]
[action]
[He sighs, running a hand down the side of his face. Can't they just go back to bed...]
[action]
[But his pancham seems determined and stands right in front of her trainer, a fire burning in her eyes. Level 100 vs 10, seems fair enough. No one will break any bones or anything, perfectly safe.]
[action]
We really don't have to, if you don't want to. But I'm not sure if she's going to take no for an answer...
[action]
[Which says a lot for Teddie, he seems to be putting in a lot of effort just to get out of this. I mean, it's effort put in just so he can go back to sleep, but effort nonetheless. That's more than usual.
Walking over just a little bit closer, Teddie points at Rikki and attempts the sternest voice he can muster. Which...this being Teddie, isn't very stern at all.]
Ahem. NO!
[See? Easy.]
[action]
...and he just barely jumps back in time before she snaps at his finger, her jaw closing audibly on thin air as he jerks her off of his shoulder and into his arms.]
Rikki!
[She lets out an angry hiss, struggling in her trainer's arms like...well, the fattest, angriest cat in the world, her tail lashing. Kaneki shoots Teddie an apologetic look, shaking his head a little.]
I-...I'm sorry, she...she really doesn't like strangers...
[action]
Oh, so now she's sayin' I'm strange, huh?
[To defend her strange trainer's honor, Rosa stands in front of him, chest puffed. Stall all you want, but now she has to make this happen. No one gets to bite him except her, understand?!]
[action]
She's just...protective.
[Hissssssss.]
...very protective.
[action]
[Gross.]
If she stops being a crabby pants for two seconds, she can help me train Rosa-chan and then I can finally call it a night. But if not, I really gotta go, or else I'm never gonna get some shut eye.
[action]
Okay. We might as well.
[He gently peels Hide from the side of his head, setting him down on the floor and whispering for him to head on back to bed. While watching Rikki battle is always fun, the Smeargle's struggling to keep his eyes open, so after offering Teddie and his Pokemon a sleepy wave goodbye, he toddles back into the hotel room.]
[Action]
Perry and Bartholomew (and Phineas who had fallen asleep on Perry's head again), who were rudely awaken by Teddie's loudness, slowly walk over to Teddie's room door and knocks on it. Kids are you alright in there?]
[Action]
Teddie can be seen in the back, Rosa having calmed down only slightly because she managed to back him into a corner. He can tell it's Perry who came around this time, if only because there isn't any angry yelling when that door opens.]
H-Hey, Pops!
[His voice is shaky, to no one's surprise.]
[Action]
[Action]
[Action]
[Action]
Like any thankful bear, Teddie's first reaction is to grab one of Perry's legs and squeeze it tightly in the happiest thank you hug he can muster. He'd stand, but you know, he's tired.]
AHHH~ Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I thought I was a goner for a second there. What a grizzly situation, who knows what would've happened if you didn't show up!
[Action]
He then gestures to Rosa and then the closet. What there a reason for either of these things happening?]
[Action]
Aw, she got all mad 'cause I didn't feel like training today. I can't help it, bears need to hibearnate!
[In...winter, but details. Also, what was that about the closet? Sorry, he must've missed it, try speaking up- oh.]
[Action]
[Action]
[No one said he was perfect at understanding him, okay?]
Which means sleepy bears should be getting back to bed!
[Action]
[Action]
[Perry please.]
[Action]
Maybe he can try speaking to him about it?]
Ssssu...
[Uugh, this isn't going to work. Perry finally redirects his direction to the closet while he points at it. Maybe he could explain this at least.]
[Action]
Oh~ Look at you! Bear-y good start, Pops. You did it all by yourself and everything!
[He didn't even have to prompt him, well done!]
But yes, that would be the closet. It's like a tiny room where humans keep all their junk.
[In which Teddie just inadvertently referred to himself as junk.]
[Action]
Perry shakes his head and points to the bed that was also in the room. Why weren't you sleeping in it?]
[Action]
[Teddie peers over at it, like it's some sort of ~mystery~ What's the big deal, Perry?]
That's where Yosuke sleeps if he-
[And then it dawns on him. He's sleeping in the closet because he's used to it. Keeping the bed open just seemed to make sense because he expected someone else to take it. More specifically, his friend. Unsure what to think, Teddie finds himself biting his thumb as he continues.]
-if he were here...
[Action]
Sorry Tedde, the waking up in the middle of the night isn't helping his snarkiness.]
no subject
Um, are you...are you okay?
no subject
Everything is a-okay!
[It's not.]
no subject
Jeez, and I thought I had brats. Do you need a rescue?
no subject
Oh, wait, never mind! Looks like everything's good to go!
[And by everything, he means him.]
But thanks anyway, pal. Nobody told me this pokey stuff is haaaaard work, yeesh.
no subject
Well, taking care of any animal is hard work, especially intelligent ones. With Pokemon it's closer to taking care of a child, really.
