You know, I think I'm starting to notice most people have more pokey-pals than me...

[In which Teddie begins to do something he does from time to time: Think. In this case, he's decided to ponder out loud and share with the rest of the class. Because, you know, sharing is caring.]

So this miiiiight sound a little weird, but I'm just wondering if it's normal to only have a little bit. Pops got super into the whole catchy thing, and he's really REALLY good at it, but it got to the point where he can't take all of 'em with him anymore! Rise-chan has a whole bunch, too... I only got a whopping three, hrm...

I dunno, I suppose I'd just feel all bad if I had to leave any of them bearhind. I guess what I'm really trying to say is, how does everyone else handle that? I know it's totally normal, but what makes it normal? Don't they get lonely?

[And that's really what it comes down to. As someone who can't ~~bear~~ handle even the idea of being alone, the last thing he'd want to do is force that on a wee little animal right after he plucked it from its home. As far as Teddie goes, this is actually a very serious subject.]

[As she explains, Teddie's eyes seem to slowly grow in size, sparkling in awe. Odd or not, something must have resonated with him.]

T-That's exactly it! Normally I just kinda let the other pokeys be, but like when I saw Tomo-chan, I was all like "OH YEAH! I GOTS TO HAVE THAT ONE!" And I'm always giving 'em the best food, or letting them have the bed-

[Thankfully he stops himself before he starts listing absolutely everything he does with his team. Instead, he just nods.]

It has to be normal if more than one person feels that way, it's not weird at all!

[ That someone else feels that way brings a smile to Naminé's face, and it's like her whole expression has brightened. It's a relief to know someone else thinks of it like that...! ]

O-oh, I'm glad! I... thought I was the only one who felt that way. When I met Ellie... I knew I had to do my best to catch and raise her as well as I could.

[He made a girl smile, this day just got even better.]

Oh! Which one's an Ellie?! I don't think I've heard of that one bearfore.

[It doesn't even cross his mind that it could be a nickname, but he's far too excited about everything right now to consider ...things.]

Oh, um-- she's a Meowstic. Ellie is her nickname.

[ And as if she's been called, Ellie pokes her head into the frame, watching Teddie intently. ]

[He practically double-takes when he sees how wrong he is, but instantly melts the moment he sees she's a meowstic. Cue the fawning.]

Ah-ha~! Just like Rise-chan! You know, I'm starting to think that's just the rules of this place. All pretty girls seem to have this pokeyman.

[ The compliment makes her blush! And she fidgets with the hem of her dress, smiling shyly. ]

D-do you really think so?

[Well this is strange... Nobody's yelling at him yet. Or grabbing him by the collar. Or smacking him on the head. Maybe it's the lack of any and all Yosuke's, which means he's...free to continue.]

But of course~ As an honorary gentlebear, I wouldn't lie about something like that. ...Or at all, now that I think about it.

[ His honesty is definitely reassuring! And she lets out a little giggle, nodding. ]

Oh no, I should be thanking you.

[He's gonna do it, he's going to go into ham mode. A hand is placed daintily onto his chest before he continues.]

[ You're gonna make the poor girl go red as a tomato, Teddie...!! ]

Gracing you... w-with my presence?

[Tomatoes are a lovely fruit!]

Heck yeah! You just being here and talking to me is all I need to be happy.

[ Huh. She knows she makes other people happy just by being there, too, but not him. ]

I... I had no idea.

Oh! Well in that case...surprise! [He starts to laugh, because he somehow finds that funny.] Bears are social creatures, I just love it when anyone talks to me! But boy, are you great! You don't get mad or call me weird or threaten to take away my snacks. It's a breath of fresh air.

I-I'm not sure why I would get angry at you, or threaten you... o-or take away your snacks!

I know, right?! I dunno why anyone would do that, either! But that just seems to be how stuff rolls. The only other person I know who doesn't do those things is Sensei, and he's not even here.

...Okay, well, Pops doesn't either, but that's only 'cause he can't talk all the way yet. But he sure found a way to make words look angry sometimes...

You must be very close to him? [ But she blinks at that. ] Pops...?

You better bearlieve it!

[But he'll save his raving for another day. Instead, he finds himself blinking back.]

Huh? You don't know who Pops is? He's this guy I travel everywhere with! [Because for whatever reason he feels like this is common knowledge.] The moment I saw him, I totally thought he looked just like Nana-chan's daddy, and that's what I like to call him, so... Well, "Pops" just seems like the best old guy name.
