You know, I think I'm starting to notice most people have more pokey-pals than me...

[In which Teddie begins to do something he does from time to time: Think. In this case, he's decided to ponder out loud and share with the rest of the class. Because, you know, sharing is caring.]

So this miiiiight sound a little weird, but I'm just wondering if it's normal to only have a little bit. Pops got super into the whole catchy thing, and he's really REALLY good at it, but it got to the point where he can't take all of 'em with him anymore! Rise-chan has a whole bunch, too... I only got a whopping three, hrm...

I dunno, I suppose I'd just feel all bad if I had to leave any of them bearhind. I guess what I'm really trying to say is, how does everyone else handle that? I know it's totally normal, but what makes it normal? Don't they get lonely?

[And that's really what it comes down to. As someone who can't bear handle even the idea of being alone, the last thing he'd want to do is force that on a wee little animal right after he plucked it from its home. As far as Teddie goes, this is actually a very serious subject.]

I don't think that's weird at all! I mean back home I only had my dog, Cerbee. Then when I was here a couple weeks, for a long time the only Pokemon I had were an Electrike, Buizel, Sentret, and Goomy.

After that I sorta just...ended up getting more, over time! So it wasn't like I got, like, forty Pokemon all at once.

[Which is something of a lot, he realizes. It's less than a lot of veterans have, but it's a pretty daunting number for someone who hasn't been here as long.

Jimmy props his head up in one hand as he continues, his other idly petting the top of his Manectric's head that's currently flopped over his knees.]

I usually let most of my Pokemon stay at the Circus tent here in Goldenrod. They've all got each other for company, plus all the other Pokemon here...and they're always busy with something to do! I've got a couple others staying at Jack's Mansion, too.

I know what'cha mean about not really wanting to put 'em in the PC, though. But I think as long as you make sure to check on them every once and a while, it's okay.

[See, that's the thing, though. In some weird moment of clarity, Teddie just knows he's going to somehow forget someone if he drops them in there. It's a scary thought, he doesn't want to risk being that guy.

But Jimmy does give him a glimmer of hope.]

[At least Teddie is conscious of his own potential misgivings. Jimmy's confident that that wouldn't happen, though. Even when you have a lot of Pokemon, it's hard not to get attached to each and every one of them. At least, that's how it is for him.]

Well, you can't just leave them anywhere. But since I work here and it's got enough room for a lot of Pokemon, it's okay! I don't think you could if you worked in a shop or something. But a lotta people let their Pokemon stay at their houses if they have one.

[Enter Teddie: Homeowner. Never mind that he's a minor, that doesn't mean anything in this day in age. If anything, they should just give him a house right now for being so progressive.]

Or pawsibly four houses... It depends how many scorebats I wanna get now. [He nods to himself as he thinks it over.] Hrm, I'm gonna need a loooooot of balls.

To be honest, I really don't know how comfortable I feel with having one of my Pokemon in the "Box". I thought about stopping catching Pokemon now but whoever's in the Box would probably be lonely by themselves.

I think that's perfectly alright. It's personal preference, in any case; I like dividing my attention amongst them equally so I try not to have too many, whereas one of my old friends seemed to be a collector of sorts.

Either way, it's still a normal way to train them.

[He says that just a wee bit too loud, but that's honestly how relieved he is.]

I was really worried for a second there. Bearhaps it's just my overly sensitive heart, but there's just no way I couldn't take all of 'em with me. Who knows, maybe one day they'll change up the rules and I can have my own little army~

An army... That would certainly be a lot! But I think keeping just a handful makes it more personal. There's nothing to say you can't change your mind one way or another while you're here, especially if you're here for a while.

I... don't think it's a bad thing, to have only a few. I don't have as many as my other friends, but... um, it's okay to catch only the ones you really want. Or... you feel a connection to.

Well... sometimes I encounter a Pokémon that I feel immediately drawn to. Or... when they hatch from an egg, I want to do all I can to make sure they have a wonderful life. [ She pauses, blushing a little. ] I... that doesn't sound too odd, does it...?

[As she explains, Teddie's eyes seem to slowly grow in size, sparkling in awe. Odd or not, something must have resonated with him.]

T-That's exactly it! Normally I just kinda let the other pokeys be, but like when I saw Tomo-chan, I was all like "OH YEAH! I GOTS TO HAVE THAT ONE!" And I'm always giving 'em the best food, or letting them have the bed-

[Thankfully he stops himself before he starts listing absolutely everything he does with his team. Instead, he just nods.]

It has to be normal if more than one person feels that way, it's not weird at all!

[ That someone else feels that way brings a smile to Naminé's face, and it's like her whole expression has brightened. It's a relief to know someone else thinks of it like that...! ]

O-oh, I'm glad! I... thought I was the only one who felt that way. When I met Ellie... I knew I had to do my best to catch and raise her as well as I could.

I try to get into the habit of switching my Pokemon around when I travel, so that none of them linger in whatever dimension the Box holds for too long, but it's just so hard to keep track of.

I mean, I don't think I had too many Pokemon until a couple of months ago? But then my boyfriend went back home and all of a sudden I'm responsible for his Pokemon too, and it's like, what am I gonna do with all of these?

[Teddie stares off for a moment when he realizes something. In that sort of situation, that's exactly how he would be, too. ...Except much less responsible and there would probably be screaming involved.]

S-So, when people leave...you don't get to take your pokeys with you? That's so mean, why would they make a world like that?!
